Irish born Richard Harris died on the on the
26th of October 2002. The one time hell raiser ended
his career on a quieter note by staring as J.K Rowling's
Albus Dumbledore in the screen adaptation the first
Harry Potter novel. Harris began to get a reputation
for himself both on and off screen back in the sixties.
The critic Clive Barnes called him one of a new breed
of British actors, who are "rougher, tougher,
fiercer, angrier and more passionately articulate
than their well-groomed predecessors ... roaring boys,
sometimes with highly coloured private lives and lurid
public images." His drinking bouts with fellow
alcohol leviathans Richard Burton and Peter O'Toole
became the thing of legend.
