Raising Oliver Reed built his career
on the twin towers of acting and alcohol. He was an
acclaimed actor whose antics away from the silver
screen often created headlines bigger than the movies
he starred in. Oliver was the man who made film history
through his naked wrestling scenes in 'Woman in Love',
and chat show history by appearing on Aspel with a
suspected jug of gin and orange blind drunk with the
desire to sing 'Wild Thing.' Some times his drunken
antics were sober publicity stunts, but his drinking
binges with The Who's Keith Moon and Snooker legend
Alex Higgins often resulted in fights, vandalism,
and womanising. When Oliver Reed got drunk he got
Really Drunk! Such sheer drunken debauchery could
not last and while filming 'Gladiator' in Malta Oliver
had a heart attack. He had been drinking in his favorite
bar all day and it was in there that his heart finally
gave way. He died as he'd lived; drunk.
