The Prophets interview with the Raelians

The Raelians support human cloning. Clonings nothing new. I've been cloning yeast cells for years. I add a few ingredients and BOOM! I have a fully functioning keg of beer! Below is an interview with Glenn Carter, chief representative of the UK Raelians.

1. Raelians have been described in the popular press as a cult. What is your stance on this label?

Cult is a word that actually applies to all religions, If you look up the meaning, it means 'system of religious worship' so If one uses this term when referring to all religions and their practices, Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, etc., then I agree they all are 'Cults'. … If however one uses this term as a means to discredit a minority group or increases fear and suspicion surrounding these groups, as is the popular use of this word. Then I would say that it is an act of discrimination, and an attempt at emotional manipulation, to cause others, through fear to hate or disregard a particular minority, religion or philosophy.… These are the same tactics employed to discredit the Jews in the Thirties in Nazi Germany… Usually those who use this word do not even understand its meaning. … as was verified when I asked several TV journalists what was the definition of the word that they used (Cult). … not one knew!!

2. Ok lets move on to the subject of human cloning. The press has been very heavily critical of your beliefs in the right to clone human beings They site the premature ageing in Dolly the sheep as evidence that cloning is not safe for humans. Will human clones display any characteristic defects as the result of the first cloning?

'The premature Ageing of Dolly the sheep' is a false statement, Dolly's mother, her cell Donor of whom Dolly was the Clone, Died at 3 years old, Dolly died at Six years.... Dolly showed no sign's of arthritis before the date of her cell donors death. … therefore I would state categorically that the only evidence is that Cloning doubled Dollies Life Span. ... anyone stating anything else Is attempting to manipulate the emotions of those to whom the statement is made.… It simply is not true... Premature arthritic in sheep does happen regularly in a percentage of sheep, and is not a result of cloning... Dr Ian Wilmut (the scientist who created Dolly) stated that, there was no evidence to show that Dolly's arthritic was due to the cloning technique.

Addressing the assertion that, any one group's rights should be restricted by the ethics of another' (The press has been very heavily critical of your beliefs in the right to clone human beings.) To this I say, No one groups ethical beliefs are more valuable than another's. It would be pure arrogance to state anything else, the asserted Morality or beliefs of the press or anyone else's, in no way outweigh or are more important than my belief and that of the Raelian's, that Science should be Free. ... any other conclusion, again would be discrimination and against Human rights

3. You believe that human beings were cloned from aliens some 25000 years ago. Are you using the same cloning techniques? What evidence is there that we are a cloned species?

Raelian's Believe that Human life and indeed all life on this planet was the original creation of the ELOHIM, as is the name given to the creators in the original Hebrew texts. Elohim Directly Translated from ancient Hebrew to English means 'Those who Came from the Sky.' ... Elohim a race of advanced Extra terrestrials Created all life, we were not Cloned from them... If you look to the Old Testament, it is written very clearly as a Plural 'God' ...... for example.....

Let us make man in our own Image... (Genesis 1:26)

Now that man has become one of us thanks to science... Now we must ensure that he does not put out his had to take from the ''tree of life'', eat and live forever. (Genesis 3:22)

When Man began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, the sons of Elohim saw the daughters of men were beautiful. They took them as wives of all they had chosen. (Genesis 6:2)

When the sons of Elohim came into the daughters of men and had children by them, they were the heroes of old, men of renown. (Genesis 6:5)

4. Since we share much of our DNA with that of other species, was it just humans that were cloned or does all the life on earth originate from another world?

All Life was created from a common DNA source, that source being the DNA created by the Elohim using chemicals found around them in the earth.… The only evolution is the refining of the genetic techniques that the Elohim employed during the creation process... for example.. There were several prototypes of human beings until the Elohim were satisfied with the Creation of Man.

5. If not how do you explain the similarities between human (alien) DNA and the naturally occurring species that evolved separately on earth? If the two are not linked why do they share the same mechanism for the passing on of information between generations?

Raelian's believe that all creations are that of the Elohim.

The Elohim had children by the Daughters of man, these children's direct decedents are the Jewish people, as was recently discovered that the Jews DNA is slightly different to that of none Jews.

6. There is a great deal of controversy about the legal implications of cloning e.g. is the female who is cloned and bares the child that child's parent or her sister? Do such legal implications worry the Raelian movement?

I feel that any confused legal implications, will be ironed out in due coarse. … Regarding the personal relationship between a new born baby and a parent, I can see no confusion what so ever.…

7. Ok one last question on the issue of cloning. How did you choose your first test subjects? What was the criteria?

I respectfully suggest that you contact clonaid directly for an answer to this question.… Clonaid and the Raelian Movement are completely separate organisations... The Raelian movement supports philosophically the work of Clonaid but play no part in the company or it's activities...

8. Moving on to the aliens themselves. Do you believe they are divine creators? Or simply a more advanced version of ourselves?

I feel that the Elohim who created all life on earth deserve to be addresses with great respect either Extra terrestrials or Elohim.… Aliens is not a term that I personally find to be respectful enough.…

The Raelian Movement asserts that there is no Divine creator, The Elohim are a race of human beings 25,000 years in advance of ourselves, who themselves were created by a race of human beings and so on infinitely

9. Were we made exactly in their image?

Let us make man in our own image after our likeness (Genesis 1:26) We are not Identical, but simply a creation indigenous to its surroundings in the image of it's creators.…

10. Why did they make us in the first place? Do they have an exact purpose for us?

The Elohim Created us to blossom and mature, in order to one day become Elohim ourselves. Having said this, initially we were a simple experiment into genetic engineering, as was all life on earth. The Elohim were at a similar stage of scientific development to that which we will soon reach. The government on their own planet were concerned that the creation of artificial life in laboratories on their plant could possibly cause problems . To allow this experimentation to continue a suitable planet needed to be found, on which the experimentation could safely be carried out.… This 'planet' is earth.

11. Moving on from such testing and predictable questions I'd like to gauge a bit more of a general feel for the Raelian movement and the extra-terrestrials themselves. Are Raelians allowed to consume alcohol?

We can drink although we should not drink excessively, red wine with dinner is common. … we are however encouraged not to take Caffeine, nicotine indeed all recreational stimulant drugs are discouraged.

12. Do the aliens get intoxicated by alcohol and do they have the knowledge of brewing?

The Elohim do not intoxicate themselves at all.… As they created yeast, hops and all the bacteria and ingredients used in creating every alcoholic beverage that exists, I feel that that it is safe to say that they completely understand the process of brewing....

13. Do the aliens reproduce in the same way as us through internal fertilisation? When our abilities to clone becomes more advanced will this mean that people no longer need to have sex?

The Elohim can have as much sex as each individual chooses to have, Either to create a baby if that is the choice or simply for pleasure... The Elohim have a leisure society, what would you do with your free time??

14. Now the big philosophical question. Who created it all in the beginning? Are the extra-terrestrials the creators or were they in turn created by a higher being such as a God?

This is an interesting question and without a doubt for me was the hardest concept to grasp..The Elohim were created by their Elohim and their Elohim in turn created them ad-infinitum.… The Universe is infinite, as is time, to search for a beginning or end is also infinite.......

The situation that we as human beings have to overcome is our concept of life which begins then lives and dies. … everything we know is finite, therefore to release ourselves from this idea of existence is extremely difficult...
