Temperance

Temperance is a card of peace and enlightenment but also one of sorrow. Painkillers and water cure the agony of a hangover. Suffering brings sorrow, but out of sorrow and despair positive growth and prosperity can emerge. The cloudy pained mind gives way to clear judgement and peace. The dull sluggish mind is brought into a stable state of consciousness through the alchemy of water and paracetamol.

Dignified: A pure and true temperament will guide into peace. Good management and the careful control of chaotic forces will result in a state of equilibrium. The restoration of peace and happiness after a time of pain or sorrow. The reawakening of the imagination and the lifting of the spirit and soul. In drink we find enlightenment, in sobriety we find reconciliation.

Ill dignified: A poor judgement has been made. A time of sorrow which has no foreseeable end. The mind and spirit have been corrupted and the result is conflict both internal and external. Drink can poison the mind and lead to misery.
